 9:00-10:00am- Tilling the Land of  Opportunities for Central Region Drama Therapists (Jamie Ansley, MA RDT, La Vonne Canfield, Joanna Abillama)

Ansiley’s pioneer research study using drama therapy with patients on dialysis is currently being replicated by K-State students, Canfield and Abillama. The three will demonstrate a session and discuss creating a manual for on-going research.

10:15-12:15- The Dream Keepers: Self-Care for the Drama Therapist(Whitney Sullivan, LCSW, RDT and Greer Beckman) In this experiential workshop we will explore the concept of vicarious resilience and how our clients can offer inspiration and hope.

 12:15-1:30-Working Lunch: Addressing Central Region Concerns (Laura Wood, MA, RDT, LPC, CCLS) LUNCH IS INCLUDED IN YOUR REGISTRATION FEE

 1:30-3:00pm-Casting You in a New Role: The Need For Your Skills in Preventative Education (Monica Phinney, MA and Marie Alcocer, MA, MPA) In this presentation, participants will have the opportunity to hear about how one domestic-violence agency integrates arts in all educational/preventative programs.

3:00-3:15pm-Break

 3:15-4:15pm: Website Creation to Market Oneself (Tamra Patterson and Amy Tichy)

This workshop will demonstrate options to use when creating a personal website to promo tote creative arts therapies.

Surviving and Thriving as a Drama Therapist in the Central Region; An Evening of Stories with the All Things Story Playback Theater from ChicSUNDAY April 27th, 2014

 

8:45-9:00am: Arrive

 9:00am-10:00am Building Connections Between Drama Therapy and Children’s Theater (Barett Scroggs) This workshop will allow us to celebrate the connection between Theater for Young Audiences and Drama Therapy.

 10:00-11:15: The Embody Compassion Project (Laura Wood, MA, RDT, LPC, CCLS)

In this workshop Laura will share her research and work on the Embody Compassion Project she has developed with her clients with eating disorders at Castlewood Treatment Center. Participants will get to experience part of the process, finding compassion for their own trailblazing central region drama therapist.

 11:15-11:30am: Break

 11:30am-12:30-Introduction to Developmental Transformations Method (Jen Johnson, MA, RDT and Talia Smigielski, MA, RDT) Unique in this method is that the facilitator or therapist is a full participant in the dramatic action, serving as the client’s/participant’s playobject.  No props, objects, or set exercises are used: the work takes place in an empty space through spontaneous interaction. The client serves as the therapist’s text, who uses the client’s actions as the basic material for engaging in dramatic interaction.

This extra group is open to all conference participants, to get more DvT experience. Or if you are just coming for the DvT portion it is $20
